EiMatro TV | Open and Honest Corrections Policy
Our Commitment
EiMatro TV is committed to accuracy, transparency and accountability.
We recognize that errors can occur in journalism and fact-checking. When a credible error is identified, we review the evidence and, where appropriate, correct the published content openly and transparently.
Our corrections policy applies to news reports, fact-checks and other editorial content published by EiMatro TV.
1. What May Be Corrected
Corrections may be appropriate when published content contains:
- A factual error
- Incorrect names, dates, figures or locations
- Misrepresentation of evidence
- Incorrect attribution
- A significant omission that materially affects the meaning
- An inaccurate fact-check conclusion
- A technical or editorial error that could mislead readers
Minor typographical or formatting errors may be corrected without a formal correction notice when they do not materially affect the meaning of the content.
2. How to Request a Correction
Readers, sources and organizations may report a possible error through our official contact channels.
A correction request should, where possible, include:
- The URL of the relevant article or fact-check
- The specific statement believed to be incorrect
- Evidence supporting the requested correction
- Relevant documents or source links
- Contact information for follow-up
A complaint without supporting evidence may not result in a correction.
3. Review Process
EiMatro TV will review credible correction requests.
The editorial team may:
- Review the original reporting and evidence
- Check the relevant primary and secondary sources
- Review any evidence supplied by the complainant
- Contact relevant parties where appropriate
- Determine whether a correction, clarification, update or no change is appropriate
The existence of a complaint does not itself establish that an error occurred.
4. Major Errors
If a significant error changes the meaning or conclusion of a fact-check, EiMatro TV will make the correction clearly visible.
Where appropriate, we will:
- Correct the original content
- Add a correction notice
- Explain what was changed
- Explain why the change was necessary
- Preserve transparency about the original error
- Update related content when necessary
We will not silently change a material error in a way that prevents readers from understanding that a correction was made.
5. Corrections to Fact-Check Conclusions
If credible evidence demonstrates that the conclusion of a fact-check was incorrect, EiMatro TV will reassess the evidence.
If the conclusion changes, the published fact-check will be updated and the change clearly identified.
6. Complaints That Do Not Require Correction
Not every complaint will result in a correction.
For example, we may not make a correction when a complaint:
- Disagrees only with our editorial judgment
- Provides no credible evidence
- Requests removal of accurate information without a valid editorial reason
- Concerns an opinion rather than a factual statement
- Is abusive, threatening or discriminatory
- Attempts to influence a fact-check conclusion without evidence
7. Transparency
Corrections should be made as openly as reasonably possible.
When a correction is material, readers should be able to identify:
- What was wrong
- What has been corrected
- When the correction was made
8. Independence
No advertiser, sponsor, funder, political actor or other external party may require EiMatro TV to make or refuse a correction.
Corrections are determined on the basis of evidence and editorial standards.
9. Contact
Correction requests may be submitted through the official EiMatro TV contact channels.
