EiMatro TV | Fact-Checking Methodology

Our Commitment

EiMatro TV is committed to accurate, evidence-based and non-partisan fact-checking in the public interest. Our fact-checking process is designed to assess the accuracy of verifiable claims using reliable evidence and consistent standards.

We do not fact-check individuals or organizations simply because of their political, institutional or social identity. The same standards are applied regardless of who makes a claim.

1. Selection of Claims

We prioritize claims based on:

  • Public interest and potential impact on society
  • The reach and circulation of the claim
  • The seriousness or potential harm of the claim
  • Whether the claim can be independently verified
  • The availability of credible evidence
  • The likelihood that verification will help the public understand the issue

We do not promise to fact-check every claim submitted to us.

2. What We Fact-Check

We primarily examine verifiable factual claims made by:

  • Public figures
  • Government institutions and officials
  • Political actors
  • Organizations and public-interest institutions
  • Viral social media posts
  • Widely circulated statements, images, videos and other digital content

Opinions, predictions, satire and purely subjective statements are generally not treated as fact-checkable claims unless they contain a specific factual assertion that can be independently verified.

3. Research and Evidence

Fact-checkers seek reliable evidence from multiple sources whenever possible.

Priority is generally given to:

  1. Primary documents and official records
  2. Direct statements or original sources
  3. Government and institutional databases
  4. Academic and research publications
  5. Credible news organizations
  6. Reputable open-source and digital verification tools
  7. Other reliable sources appropriate to the claim

Sources used in a fact-check are identified and linked whenever reasonably possible so that readers can independently review the evidence.

4. Multiple-Side Verification

Where a claim involves competing accounts, EiMatro TV seeks relevant evidence supporting and challenging the claim.

When appropriate and reasonably possible, we contact the person, organization or institution responsible for the claim and provide an opportunity to respond or provide supporting evidence.

A failure to respond does not automatically prevent publication when sufficient independent evidence is available.

5. Evidence Standards

Equivalent claims are assessed using the same essential standards.

Our conclusions are based on the available evidence rather than political affiliation, personal preference, popularity or pressure from any individual, organization or funding source.

Where evidence is incomplete or inconclusive, we make that limitation clear.

6. Fact-Check Ratings

EiMatro TV may use clear labels or ratings to communicate the outcome of a fact-check.

Depending on the nature of the claim, possible conclusions may include:

  • True
  • Mostly True
  • Partly True
  • Misleading
  • False
  • Unsupported
  • Unverifiable

A rating is assigned only after reviewing the available evidence and explaining the reasoning behind the conclusion.

7. Corrections and Updates

If credible evidence demonstrates that a published fact-check contains a significant factual error, EiMatro TV will review the matter and make an appropriate correction in accordance with our Corrections Policy.

When a correction materially changes the conclusion of a fact-check, the correction will be clearly disclosed.

8. Reader Participation

Readers are encouraged to submit claims for consideration.

Submitted claims may be reviewed according to our selection criteria, available resources, public interest and whether the claim is verifiable.

Readers should not assume that submission guarantees publication.

9. Editorial Independence

Fact-checking decisions are made independently by the editorial team.

Advertisers, sponsors, funders, political actors or other external parties may not determine the conclusion of a fact-check.

10. Transparency

EiMatro TV is committed to continuously improving transparency concerning:

  • Sources and evidence
  • Fact-checking methodology
  • Funding and organizational structure
  • Editorial independence
  • Corrections
  • Reader complaints and feedback

This methodology may be updated when our fact-checking practice evolves or when additional transparency requirements are adopted.
